All Aboard - Helpful Information

Your Health
There are so many changes happening all around us. Keeping track and understanding them is a full-time job.  I am particularly interested in healthcare reform.  At first I was completely confused as to when the changes will happen, how they will affect my family and what will be expected of me.  Thank goodness the government launched a website that answers all these questions and more.  Please click www.heathcare.gov and get answers to the questions that you may have regarding healthcare reform.

Breast Health

The battle to prevent breast cancer continues by the second.  Most women don't understand how important it is to examine themselves monthly.  Having found a lump in my breast a few months ago during my monthly routine self-exam reinforced its importance.  Thank God it was benign, however, it was an extremely stressful experience.  Not all prognosis will be positive and you need to be well educated with as much information as possible.  Here are a few facts.
  • One in eight women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime.
  • Breast cancer is the leading cause of death among women in the U.S. age 40-59.
  • An estimated 1,910 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed in men in the U.S. in 2009.
  • With respect to age, race, religion and socioeconomic status, breast cancer knows no boundaries.
  • Somewhere in the world a women dies of breast cancer every 68 seconds.

Your Cell Phone
The laws banning specific cell phone use are being enforced across the country.  Each state has different guidelines and penalties.  This should not be a conversation because it makes absolutely no sense.  As you drive, please be aware that one moment of any distraction can cost you many things that can never be replaced, a life.  Click here for the laws on record for your state.  Oh, always remember to buckle up!

Volunteerism
Volunteerism is defined as performing or offering to perform as service of one's own free will.  Where do you begin?  Here is a great place to start: http://www.serve.gov/
