Awesome Powers Track Club Wins In Jamaica 03/08/2010
A few weeks ago we had Disa Nicholson on the show talking about her track team, trying to get funds to help her girls go to a meet in Jamaica. Well they went and they won. These girls have got to be floating on air. I am so happy!!! Keeping Motivated 03/08/2010
In 2005 I challenged myself in an extreme manner, I ran the ING NYC Marathon in support of the Leukemia Lymphoma Society through Team-In-Training. To my surprise, I finished. However, I was saddled with an injury that still plagues me today. Low and behold that has not stopped me from finding more challenges. On Sunday, April 25, 2010, I will participate in the More Magazine Half-Marathon. There is no charity affiliation, just a personal challenge. Yes, my injury has caused me some setbacks in my training, however..."and still I rise". I'm asking for your support and encouragement. When you are doing it just for you, you tend to get a little lazy because there is no "brass ring" waiting for you when it's over. So, every now and again give me a shot and remind me to keep going. Thanks. February: The Month That Changed My History 02/28/2010
I've been doing The Cocoa Express Show for some time now. It has been a journey of trials, errors, successes, lightbulb moments and yes, learning. You see, what I have come to understand is the power of overcoming obstacles. We had wonderful guests on the show for February. Guests, who could have been overcome with the reality of their circumstances or take another path. They chose to take another path. Well, I am so happy they did. By taking that "road less traveled" they changed lives, saved lives, brought joy to the lives of others. However, yesterday was a turning point in my career as a host/producer of a radio show. My guest was not available due to circumstances beyond my control. But the funny thing was the manner in which a close friend behaved. She was very mean spirited and called her actions being the actions of a good friend who cares about me. Well, this is part of the learning lesson that I want to share. When you decide that you want to do something in your life that you hope will help others understand the wonderful things that going on around them; to give a snap shot of what they could accomplish if they have the right mindset and coping skills, you will definately run into opposition. Yesterday, I was thrown out of my comfort zone by a wireless connection that was less than good, an absent guest and microphone issues. Oh how I wished I could have run from the situation. My small staff did everything in their power to assist me by making phone calls to keep me informed while I was live. To them I am truly grateful. When you have the right people around you they lift you up and help you when you need it most. They don't try to hold you back, criticize, laugh or feel sorry for you. This statement is to my wonderful friends who have given me so much support as I travel on this journey called The Cocoa Express Show. To my critical friend, you know who you are, God Bless and may you find that one thing that brings you so much joy, that you wake eager to see what new way you can deliver your message. This Black History Month I made my mark in the history of this show. That history moment is this: I shall continue because I love what I do. We had a wonderful talent in our midst today. Singer James Williams. He shared his wisdom and views on life and the music industry. He has a new project as an independent artist, an album titled "701 Franklin Avenue". We listened to two of the songs on the album and believe me it was great. Please pick it up and enjoy. You can listen to more songs and purchase the CD by clicking here. 701FranklinAvenue.com Thank you James for sharing with us. Awesome Power Track Club Information 01/30/2010

Relationships & Marriage difficult mix 01/17/2010
Yesterday we had a very deep discussion about relationships with Pastor Stephen E. Carter, Garrett Fortner and Mary Pender Greene. You have to hear the show to get all the perspectives. I learned a great deal and hope that you did too. I thank each guest and caller for sharing their insights, opinions and professional advice. On Jan. 2, 2010, Mary Pender Greene provided us with seven steps that can aid us in accomplishing our goals. They are as follows: 1. Share your goals and plans with people 2. Track your progress 3. Create a great support system 4. If your support system is not enough seek a professional 5. Modify as you go 6. Take care of yourself 7. Establish limits The details for these steps were given to us by Mary Pender Greene. So check out the show and have a Happy New Year!!! Thanks again Mary Pender Greene for your time. Cooking with Chef James Taylor 12/22/2009
I'm not sure if you were able to listen to the cooking show. However, the food was amazing. Chef Jim gave us recipes and great conversation. I learned a great deal about cooking and cooking hardware. Now, as far as the food was concerned, I ate and enjoyed it. I took the remaining apple mixture, heated it up, poured it over the apple strudel and put a scoop of ice cream on top. The chicken was very tasty. Thank you Chef Jim!!!! What we've been up to... 12/12/2009
Since our last post The Cocoa Express has experienced some very interesting shows. However, today was one show that was excellent. We allowed the youth of a local church in Brooklyn, NY had a hand at the radio show stuff and they did fantastic. We intend on doing this on a regular basis. Well, I would like to say "thanks" to the Bountiful Drama Ministry, Gloria Cartwright-Hunter, Minister Tony and Anthony C. Fletcher. We had some technical problems with the show. Once the show is edited it will rebroadcast. Thanks. Living with Diabetes is difficult. 11/16/2009
Nutritionist/Dietitian Tamara Simpson graced us with her knowledge on the subject of Diabetes. We discussed the common mistakes most people make when trying to eat and stay within the dietary guidelines. Thanks for setting us straight on this |
